Are you getting the most out of each workout? Perhaps I should instead ask; how do you know if you are getting the most out of every workout? To improve your physique, you need to be continually pushing yourself beyond passed efforts in the gym. An easy way of doing this is by keeping a daily training journal or log.
 
Setting daily goals for each workout of bettering your previous performance is the key to constantly make improvements in the gym which, in return yields to continual improvements in your physique.
 
Every time you hit the gym take a little pen and pad with you. For each exercise you perform, write down the amount of weight you use and the number of repetitions you performed for each set. If you have a better memory than I, you can jot it down when you get home. If you keep a record of your lifts you will know exactly where to kick off the following week and avoid making a lighter weight selection and taking a backwards step.
 
Without daily workout goals it is easy to slip into complacency and settle for mediocre performances in the gym. Our results would stagnate and our motivation will dwindle.
 
Each workout will provide you with an opportunity to improve in some way, whether that is in the form of lifting more weight than the previous week or doing more repetitions. A training journal will help in making you more accountable for your performance in the gym and motivate you towards meeting the new challenge of every workout; leading to better results.
