Flat dumbbell bench press is a variation of the normal bench press however as the name suggests utilises dumbbells instead. The primary muscles used in this exercise are the upper, mid and lower pectorals. Secondary muscles used are the front delts, traps, triceps, upper and lower back.
To perform the flat dumbbell bench press sit on the edge of the bench holding the dumbbells rested on either knee. A great way to get heavier dumbbells into position is demonstrated in the video. As you lay back on the bench use your knees to guide the dumbbells into your starting position.
Your feet should be firmly planted on the floor and your butt and shoulders should be planted on the bench. From your butt to your shoulders your back should be comfortably arched.
Power up the weight and then lower them down in a controlled manner back down to your chest. Repeat the process.
