How Long Should You Rest Between Sets?

 

This is an important part of getting the most out of each workout. The aim of recovering efficiently between sets is to increase your muscles’ ability to lift the maximum weight for the next set. I suggest at least 2 to 3 minutes before you attempt your next set. For some exercises such as squats and deadlifts, you may even require more time to feel as if you are ready to apply your utmost effort again. These exercises tend to be very taxing on your energy levels, and for some individuals it may take up to 5 minutes to feel fully recovered.

Just make sure you are fully recovered before attempting your next set as this will maximise the amount of weight you can lift, directly impacting your muscle stimulation, and consequently your muscle growth.
