The most effective exercises for women to tone up

You may find this hard to believe, but the most effective exercises for women to tone and build a fit, firm physique are exactly the same exercises that men use; compound free weight exercise. The reason for this is that compound exercises can work several body muscles at once and also help coordination and balance in your physique.

Below are the three best overall compound movements. One trap a lot of women fall into is only concentrating on certain body parts when using weights. For example, they will work on their tummy or thighs but ignore training their chest and back. You need to keep in mind that you cannot spot reduce fat from one area. In other words you cannot say "I want to lose fat from my arms or tummy but not anywhere else." It is your genetics that will determine where you store fat the most and where you will lose it the quickest.

Squats
Helps shape your buttock and
  thighs

Helps with abdominal and body
  core muscles

Helps overall body composition

The primary muscles targeted are the thighs, however the squat movement
also incorporates the hamstrings and buttocks region which means you can
really help tone and firm this area.

When performing squats your abdominals and your body's core muscles get
a great workout also as secondary muscles used during this exercise. These
muscles are heavily utilised in balancing the weight and can also aid in
toning your tummy and waist line.

Deadlifts
  Helps shape your back,
   buttocks,  thighs and shoulders

Helps develop abdominal and
  body core muscles

Helps overall body composition
  and posture

Deadlifts are a very unique exercise in that they incorporate nearly every muscle in
   your body when performing them.

This is the one exercise that will help both men and women transform their
   physiques faster than any other.

Bench Press
  Helps shape and firm bustline

Helps develop chest, arms and
  back muscles

  Helps combat sagging due to
   natural aging process
This is a great exercise that will help target not only your chest but your whole
upper body. When performing bench press you indirectly stimulate your
shoulders, arms and even back muscles.

Use incline and decline variation of the bench press to target your upper chest
and also assist with firming your breasts and reducing the effects of sagging
   due to aging.

These are the three main exercises I definitely recommend all women include in their weight training program. By incorporating these exercises in your program you can significantly improve your posture which gives the illusion of much better natural curves and be one step closer to the balanced toned body you want.
